Lemongrass Green Tea

Lemongrass is a herb belongs to the grass family. Botanical name is Cymbopogon citratus and the name lemongrass is due to its strong aroma of lemons. It is being used in the kitchens worldwide for soups, tea and even in other dishes such as rice and curries. This herb takes an entry in Ayurveda books with a long list of health benefits. Recipe to prepare fresh Green Tea:
Ingredients:
Lemongrass leaves (fresh/ dried) – 2
Water – 2 cups
Pepper powder – a pinch
Honey – 2 spoons

Method:
Crush lemongrass properly with fingers or with ‘mortar and pestle’ and boil it with 2 cups of water. Add a pinch of pepper powder. Boil for a minute or two.  Strain with a tea strainer. Your green tea is ready to serve with honey.

Have 1 cup of this tea in the morning before breakfast. Give approx.: 5-10ml twice a day to children of 3-6 years old. This gives you instant relief from throat irritation, cough and throat pain. It also benefits in case if you have body pain!

Note: Do not add honey to boiling water/ tea as its property changes and it may have adverse effect!
