Indian Herbal Tea with Milk

Herbs like Holy Basil (Tulsi), Maruga (Marjoram), Lemon Grass have numerous health benefits. They are best consumed in the form of green teas. But in our country India, major population like to have black tea with or without milk, not much green tea. There are very few options for tea with herbs, which can be a better healthier option than plain tea. Usually we have 2 cups of tea a day, in which, one is with added fresh herbs which we grow in our garden. It will be either single herb or combination of two or more herbs. Variances will be tea with Lemon grass, Tulsi, Tulsi & Maruga, Lemon grass & Tulsi… Method will be same for all. This tea helps in improving immunity power and ideal for winter. Good if taken for cold & cough.  Here is a recipe to prepare tea with Holy basil (Tulsi) with Maruga. If you are going with other herb, replace these two with your choice of herb.



Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 2 cups tea
Ingredients:
Water – ½ cup
Tea powder – 1½ tsp
Milk – 1½ cup
Sugar – 1 tsp (optional)
Herbs – Tulsi & Maruga (Fresh or dry) – ½ tsp (if dry powder) or 8 leaves of each
Pepper powder – a pinch

Tulsi/ Holy Basil

Method:
Wash the herbs if using fresh. Crush well with fingers. Bring this with the half cup of water. On boiling, add tea leaf/ powder and boil well. Add milk and allow boiling. Strain the tea with a tea strainer. Pour to the cups and add sugar as desired. Enjoy hot herbal tea.
